Jürgen Lingl

Born in 1971 in Bavaria, Jürgen Lingl trained in wood sculpture under the master Hans-Joachim Seitfudem. He has made the chainsaw, ordinarily a mere roughing-out tool, his principal instrument: fast and precise, the blade brings forth an incredibly vivid animal and human world, which colour then dresses with impressionist touches. Awarded the Paul-Louis Weiler prize (2003) and the Edouard-Marcel Sandoz prize (2005), he pursues a body of work of moving virtuosity.
